What is Botox?

Updated: 1 day ago

Botox injections use a toxin called onobotulinum toxin A to temporarily prevent a muscle from moving. The most common use of these injections is to temporarily relax the facial muscles that cause wrinkles in the forehead and around the eyes.

Botox injections are used to treat conditions such as dynamic wrinkles, neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), migraines, an overactive bladder, gastroparesis and lazy eye.

Effects of Botox typically last for 3 to 6 months, while results vary from person to person.
